Lava Buckets with brewing fuel component are fully consumed instead of leaving behind empty bucket

When placing a lava bucket with the brewing_fuel component into the fuel slot of a brewing stand, when they’re consumed by the brewing stand they do not leave an empty bucket behind. This is inconsistent with lava buckets when they’re used for furnace fuel; they leave the empty bucket behind.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Give yourself a lava bucket with the brewing fuel component. Ex:

    /give @s minecraft:lava_bucket[minecraft:brewing_fuel={"uses":100,"speed_multiplier":1}]
  • Place a new brewing stand into the world and interact with it.

  • Fuel the brewing stand with your lava bucket item.

Expected Results:

  • After being fully consumed by the brewing fuel an empty bucket is left behind in the fuel slot.

Actual Results:

  • The entire item is consumed, bucket and all.

This behavior remains true even if the Lava Bucket is given the use_remainder component.
