26.3 snapshot 9 added proper names for keys present on Japanese, Korean, and to a lesser extent Brazilian keyboards. However, these names present as placeholders rather than communicating the proper name of the actual key they’re associated with. This also affects the IDs of these keys and their translation strings. Specifically:
Korean keys:
Hangeul is displayed as "Language 1"
Hanja is displayed as "Language 2"
Japanese keys:
Katakana is displayed as "Language 3"
Hiragana is displayed as "Language 4"
Halfwidth/Fullwidth is displayed as “Language 5”
Katakana/Hiragana is displayed as "International 2"
¥ (Yen) is displayed as "International 3"
Henkan (conversion) is displayed as "International 4"
Muhenkan (no conversion) is displayed as "International 5"
Keys used by both Japanese JIS and Brazilian ABNT layouts:
Brazilian forward-slash / Japanese ろ (Ro) is displayed as "International 1"
Expected results: when you try to bind your controls to one of these keys, the real-life name of the key would be displayed.
Actual results: we get these highly generic names that do not at all obviously indicate what key they represent in the real world. This also affects their key IDs and translation IDs.
Note: in my case, the Zenkaku/Hankaku (Halfwidth/Fullwidth) button shows up as “Mode” - this is the separate issue MC-310984.
