Now that there’s a status effect for freezing, you’d think all sources of freezing would apply it rather than incrementing freezing ticks manually for consistency’s sake and to reduce confusion (Ideally burning would become a status effect as well for this same reason)

My point wasn’t that they said it did, Its that its inconsistent and I’ve always found it quite weird and confusing. I get that burning pre-dates status effects by almost 2 years, but I was very disappointed when they decided to make freezing work the same as burning instead of taking the chance to make both into status effects in 1.17. Now that freezing is a status effect, I’d hope that they could finally take the chance to fully unify the 2 edge case “status effects” and if not, at the very least make all sources of freezing use the status effect especially given blocks like potent sulfur.

This may well be a feature request (there was no mention of powder snow granting the effect in the 26.4 Snapshot 3 changelog), but it seems best to get Mojang’s word on this.
