Thrown ice balls with 3D models rotate weirdly according to the camera

For items that have full three-dimensional models such as most blocks, thrown ice balls, if viewed up close, rotate quite oddly in a way that should not happen. To reproduce:

  • set up an upwards bubble column to suspend thrown projectiles

  • /give @s ice_ball[minecraft:item_model=furnace]

  • throw this into the bubble column so it remains on top forever

  • try to view the front face of the furnace

Expected results: it would behave like any other 3D entity and permit you to view any side.

Actual results: the front face of the furnace is always hidden from you.
