The Freezing effect overlay does not adhere to the UI pixel grid

The pixel artwork for the Freezing effect seems to have an arbitrary (and rather warped) overlay on the screen that does not obey the standard GUI scale in any way. This creates uneven pixels that look vertically stretched and don’t blend well with any of the standard UI elements.

How to reproduce:

  1. Create a Flat world with cheats enabled (ideally set “/gamerule advance_time” false for best visibility during day)

  2. Run command “/effect give @s minecraft:freezing infinite 1 true”

  3. Observe the fact that the pixels of the Freezing effect overlay are warped and appear completely independent of the GUI scale

Notes:

  • This bug is best observed when the game window is maximized

  • You can try changing the GUI scale in the “Video Settings…” menu and note how the overlay still remains independent

Since most of the Minecraft Java GUI follows a consistent and even pixel grid, I find this Freezing effect to be an outlier. To make sure the issue is as visible as possible, I’ve included a few attachments:

  1. A standard screenshot showing the Freezing effect up close and the game version. Look close to observe the Freezing overlay and native GUI clash.

  2. A very close zoom of the same screenshot to demonstrate the inconsistent pixels of the Freezing effect overlay. You won’t have to look as closely to notice that the pixels of the Freezing overlay are vertically stretched and don’t match the GUI scale of the debug menu.

Anyways, thank you for reading.
