The hurt multipler for falling dripstone is bounded below and not above

This was found while looking at MC-312430.

Pointed dripstones, while falling, sets the damage multiplier (FallHurtAmount) to a number associated with the number of stalactites falling, bounded by 6, presumably to concentrate the impact damage to the tip FallingBlockEntity - except that the multiplier is bounded below by 6, and not bounded above by six. This results in the following weird things:

  • The damage is rather discrete: increasing one block of fall distance increases the hurt value by 6 points, with no intermediates since the fall distance is converted to integers;

  • Less than six stalagmites falling causes the same damage when the tip falls the same distance, while for more than six stalagmites the multiplier is not bounded above at all (the final damage is still bounded at 40 though);

  • The damage is quite high. MC-312430 says “higher than before“, but “before“ is still much too high - one single stalagmite 5 blocks above already almost kills a player (falls 4 blocks, damage is 18).

These consequences seem unintuitive enough that I suspect that this is unintended, although I couldn’t locate when this behavior is introduced, or had it always been.
