[MC-31362] portal not fully broken

when I came out on the other side I wanted to build a bigger one so I hit the portal and only one block of the portal come out and I did it with others and when there was two at the top left I jumped and the game crashed

The same thing happens when a ghast fireball hits a portal. In my case, the top four portal blocks broke, while the bottom two were still there.

This happened on a server running 13w38c.

For portal blocks that are partially destroyed in survival (by Ghasts) is it unnecessary to create a new report?

Can only reproduce with portals created before 1.7.

Confirmed it's still an issue - just happened in 1.7.4. I'm not sure what made it break, but it's 66% broken.

It still works and is persistent (returning to the overworld -> nether it's still like that). This is running on a vanilla server from Mojang. I've not restarted the server to see if that restores it to a stable state. I've backed up the files in case that will help with debugging.
