[MC-32947] playsound doesnt use resource pack

i was trying to add a new sound to my resource pack but it only works if i put it in my .minecraft/assets/ folder, why doesn't it load sounds from the resource pack?

Cannot reproduce, my resource pack along with several other downloadable ones works fine. Check your resource pack for malformed audio files. If none of them are working then it's probably encoded incorrectly. If some are working, then identify the ones not working.

what i mean is, i added a new weather sound but it doesnt play when i do /playsound. i have to add it to the .minecraft/assets/sound/ambient/weather/ folder for it to work
