Spiders are hostile during the day without provoking them to attack.
What I expected to happen:
The spider to remain passive as I passed by.
What actually happened:
The spider came to me and attacked without being provoked.
Steps to reproduce the problem:
Go near a spider in the daytime.

Correct, if the spider is already tracking you, the change in light level won't affect it.
Ryan, are you able to confirm that it might have been this mechanic?
Resolving as duplicate of MC-1987.
I think it has to do with if they were already trying to attack you in the night. If they were spawned in the dark but walked into the light before you saw them, I think they remain neutral, but if they "saw" you before it was light, I think they'll remain hostile. Comparable to wolves turning hostile permanently.
