How to reproduce:
1. Write text into the sign
2. Press backspace

Expected:
The last character should be removed.

What happens instead:
The last character is replaced with an unknown symbol.

unable to reproduce on windows 8 PC - Check your Keyboard controls in the options and see if something might be using it by mistake.

Please reopen this issue. It wasn't fixed by 13w42b and seems to be a OS X-specific problem.
