Sheep changing color

I have a sheep pen with 16 sheep, one of each color. I will leave the pen and come back to have duplicate colors and one color missing. I have seen a magenta sheep change color to a purple sheep and then change back. I don't know how to reproduce this except to watch a pen of sheep with all colors for an hour of so.
