Success message untranslatable (commands.achievement.give.success.one)

I’m not sure this even looks like good English.

Successfully given %s the stat %s
Successfully given Fred the stat Getting Wood

(I have) successfully given Fred the stat Getting Wood ?

In many other languages the equivalent verb to ‘give’ works only one way, not two like in English. You need to say...

I gave a book to Fred

...but you cannot say...

I gave Fred a book

The current solution used in the French translation (& others) is...

%s a reçu la statistique %s avec succès
Fred received the statistic Getting Wood successfully

This is far from ideal and won’t work for all languages.

If we had separate (ordered) tokens for the stat and the player it would be simple.

BTW is ‘stat’ used here simply as an abbreviation for ‘achievement’ or does it actually mean any statistic?

Use %1$s to refer to the first token, and %2$s to refer to the second 🙂

How is this resolved?

You’ve told one person out of all the translators that it can be done this way. I think this will be resolved when the translation string uses numbered tokens. It’s unreasonable to expect all the translators to follow bug reports.

I’m happy to pass this info on, but it’s not a very efficient way of doing it.

And could we get a clarification about ‘stat’? Does it mean ‘statistic’ or ‘achievement’ or both?

Can you please reopen this report because this seems not invalid form me!
