Everything goes dark when i hold one of the new items.

Today i got the new update, and it ran smooth both in multi, and singleplayer. (I have it set to "Use latest version" in the edit profile option). The problem is every time i carry one of the new items, like stained glass, the new flowers or the new type of wood, my screen goes dark. I can still see, but its really dark (i did notice chests are normal). I use the default resource pack, and have also tried different ones. Please help me!
