I was building something in creative mode when i decided to turn off the music because it was kind of annoying. it stayed off at first but a moment later i noticed that the music was still playing, just at a low volume. the slider in the music and sounds section that controlled the music was in the off position, but the music kept playing

Sure, but the actual issue itself has not been resolved.
Hence, if this an inconvenience for anyone on here, it is a reflection of the inconvenience I have experienced with a setting that controls one thing.
Hopefully the dominoes fall toward a fix for this before a full three years passes..
My point is that this is still an issue.
Additionally, I received your response here first, but not from any other versions of this issue so my logic is at least somewhat sound.

This is still an issue in minecraft.exe 1.8.9
I have to turn off the master switch entirely to get my sanity back but then I need to hear the monsters.
