[MC-37691] You cannot hear the damage sound on multiplayer

What I expected to happen was to hear my character take fall damage.

What actually happened was I could hear the fall sound but not the damage sound.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Take any form of damage
2. ???
3. Profit

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w02c? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
