Grass can't be tilled under plants/sign while dirt can

When Tall grass/fern/saplings/sign is placed on dirt the dirt can be hoed and turned into farmland, but grass can't be tilled under them.

So in other words, is the bug "Grass blocks don't till under these things" or "When dirt becomes tilled, block does not disappear"? I don't think the second one is a bug at all, but I can see an argument towards the first point.

Cubed Fury

The only problem with "block does not disappear" is that farmland is one pixel sunken in the ground, so the block might appear to be floating, but if that isn't a bug, "grass can't be tilled under it" is a bug.

Anon Ymus

I don't think this is a bug. For example, torches placed on top of a fencepost are technically inside the fence.

Cubed Fury

I can see your point. So then the bug is grass can't be tilled under plants/sign. Should i create a new issue ticket then?

Tails

Just update the title and the description, since blocks that are placeble on farmland should remain if a block under them turns into farmland.

Cubed Fury

Updated it. Should I add different pictures or remove the ones I have?

Anon Ymus

I would just add one of a sign on grass and then the same picture after using a hoe.

Cubed Fury

New picture added.can't really add more pictures since it doesn't work...

Tails

In 1.6 dirt can no longer be tilled if there are flowers etc. ontop of it.

Is this now a bug or not and was it really fixed? As the farmland only turns back to dirt if a solid block is above, you would expect to be able to till dirt if a non-solid block is on top of it.

Edit: Misunderstood the report. MC-103899 is probably invalid then.
