Put the summary of the bug you're having here
This was the first time it actually gave a crash report, other times I need to restart my computer.
What I expected to happen was...:
The game to not crash when I went away from it
What actually happened was...:
It crashed. Sorry for being so vague but there's really no way to go into great detail about this. I minimize Minecraft, go browse the internet for a couple of minutes and come back to find that the game has stopped responding.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start game
2. Leave it open for a bit
3. Return to find that it has crashed from a java.lang.RuntimeException: GL_FRAMEBUFFER_INCOMPLETE_READ_BUFFER

Doesn't affect amd64 Windows 8. It could be related to your x86 Vista, because supposedly Vista has problems with stuff, but it could be something else.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.4 / Launcher version 1.3.6 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
@Tails The crash still exists in 1.7.4, but I can no longer get a crash report. The client thread keeps repeating the same 3 lines;
[14:26:02 INFO]: Client> [14:26:02] [Client thread/ERROR]: ########## GL ERROR ##########
[14:26:02 INFO]: Client> [14:26:02] [Client thread/ERROR]: @ Post render
[14:26:02 INFO]: Client> [14:26:02] [Client thread/ERROR]: 1286: Invalid framebuffer operation
so I assume that my openGL is outdated.
If I can get a crash report I will post it.
Please update your graphics card drivers following these instructions: Updating Graphics Card Drivers.
Do not rely on automatic searches for driver updates.
Do not use Windows Update or Device Manager - Microsoft doesn't install OpenGL, they promote DirectX.
If you know the brand and type of your graphics card, go to the links provided above and search manually for the most recent driver for your card. The automatic detection tools of the card manufacturers are not recommended.
If all that won't help, please use the Mojang Support Center.
