When opening a minecraft world the terrain disappears

When I open a minecraft world the terrain and alot of other textures will not load some of the textures that do work is lava, water, stone pick wood axe and a chest. I have tried to use different texture packs to see if it was just minecraft's default texture but there seems to be an error with this as well. I have tried creating new worlds but the problem keeps on occuring.

Steps to Reproduce:
