Mass mob spawns

When I log on to one particular world, zombies and skeletons and other mobs spawn at a prodigious rate regardless of whether it is day or night. Noted that when opening this particular world, it takes a long time for chunks to load. This happens even in places without world holes/unloaded chunks.
