Tile blocks can't be changed using the /fill command

Problem:
When I tried to use the /fill command to replace lava or a door with solid blocks, it didn't do anything.

What I expected to happen was...
When I press a button, the door turns from a wooden door to an iron door, trapping the player inside.

What happened was...
The wooden door remained there, and did nothing. Sometimes, it also just broke the door and left the item on the ground.
