Game world created in 1.7.2. Witch hut trap created and completed in 1.7.4.
In snapshots 14w03b and versions prior to this, the witch hut just spawns witches at the expected optimizable amounts, with the very occasional spider and skeleton (<1%).
Starting from 14w04a, and snapshots since then up to most recent (14w05b), regular hostile mobs spawn in the trap, with witches at the default very rare amount.

Update: Tested on my own witch farm which seems to confirm this, but when testing a witch hut in a freshly spawned world (14w05b) I only see witches in the hut, although rarely it seems.

I created a new map with the latest snapshot for the same seed - the hut is still there, so this isn't simply a matter of terrain gen changes that seem to happen quite often (check out older maps with newer minecraft versions, and deserts turn into snow biomes etc), but more like the change at 1.6.4 (iirc) where existing structures' metadata was changed (and we were warned repeatedly about that at the time, but not this time it seems). Maybe my analysis is incorrect, but if this is a 'feature' and not a bug, it's infuriating that this hasn't been listed in the changelog.
Or perhaps some additional rule on spawning such as slimes spawn rates changing based on moon phase? Hopefully someone will have an answer, I'm holding off on continuing the parameter of my witch farm until we figure out one way or the other.
I can confirm this. I created a world using version 1.7.4 with the seed -3784590470294277123. At (-448,-1472) there is a witch hut. After updating to 14w04b (or 14w05b) zombies, skeletons and spiders start spawning in my witch hut (farm).
1.8 still an issue. Tried moving the bottom layer up one and then 2 blocks, but it still spawned all hostile mobs.

Changed the entry reading 73 from 68 for both BB: 6 integers (not sure if both needed). The lower layer of my existing farm is at 73. Now that layer spawns witches only. Top layer spawns all mobs. No other entry causes only witches to spawn on both layers.
This was worked out from reading some comments in issue MC-58363
Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w47c or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
