Mining crack texture rendering incorrectly

When mining certain blocks, the mining texture is completely black. Also, this will happen to any block touching water and there is no specific pattern in the blocks that are affected by the visual bug.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Mine a block such as stone. Notice nothing happened.
2. Mine a block such as cobblestone. Notice the bug?
3. Mine stone touching water (but not submerged)
