Normally, mineshafts have lots of arches,
instead there was lots of pillars in this section.
The wooden platform of the chest also seems weird.

This is the nature of randomness. I've seen so many strange things that are unusual but they aren't bugs. On my current world I've found a location with six different ravines that all intersect each other in a single chunk.
