What I expected to happen was...:
I would be able to select the world I wanted to open and it would load up.
What actually happened was...:
I was unable to select a world (highlight it) using any method from the touchscreen. I have tried using an onscreen touchpad and my fingers.
Only with the aid of an external mouse it is possible to select a single player world.
It looks like thousands of other players have the same problem:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Minecraft on a touch 2 in 1 pc. The one on the forum (hp split x2) will most likely produce the outcome.
2. Try to select a world from the world selection screen using either an onscreen touchpad or fingers.
3. You should not be able to select a single player world without an external mouse.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.
Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.
Yes the problem still exists on the current Minecraft 1.8 version and also on the last Minecraft 1.8.1 pre 3 release. Please reopen that ticket and solve it as soon as possible. If can’t solve it please make a possibility to select singe player worlds with the keyboard. But think that then it also need to have a possibility to select the FIRST world with the keyboard because otherwise nobody would be able to select anything with the keyboard like you can see in the multiplayer selection but fortunately the mouse selection works in this selection. And what’s the recon why you don’t make the single player selection technical like the multiplayer selection? It doesn’t make since the one works ant the other one doesn’t. And the most annoying thing of all is that on locations you don’t have Wi-Fi you also don’t carries a mouse with you so Minecraft is unplayable.
Affected versions: Minecraft Beta 1.3 to Minecraft 1.8.1 pre 3 (most recent snapshot)
Minecraft Beta 1.2_2 works perfect because it has the old world selection with maximal 5 worlds that works perfect.

Thanks you so much. The Version 1.8.2-pre 5 fixed this Issue. Maybe it had to do with MC-75083 but I’m not sure. I’m so happy that it works now.
Yes I have exactly the same problem. It is one of the most annoying bugs at the moment! An external mouse stick without a mouse can may solve your problem temporary but I hope that it will be fixed soon. Luckily does the Multiplayer selection works.
