Using an anvil to combine incompatible enchantments leads to unchanged items with higher enchantment cost

I tried to combine diamond sword having Smite V and Unbreaking III with Sharpness V enchanted book.
Note: Smite V and Sharpness V are not allowed on the same sword.

The anvil behaves like combining the items:
1) The book is consumed.
2) The player level is consumed
3) The new sword have higher enchantment cost even if the description has not changed

Expected behavior: The combination being invalid, disable the anvil output. This is the behavior for other invalid combinations like applying Power to a sword.

Additionally there could be an error hint "Invalid combination".
We have already error hint "Too Expensive"

Since the enchanting system has already been changed for future releases, I suggest you test this out in one of the snapshot versions, as it may no longer be an issue.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.

The solution is poor as a concept but is not a bug. You can close the issue. It works as intended. (the reporter)
