I am having the same problem but with cats too

Confirmed for 1.8 due to MC-70839.

It sounds like the tamed / sitting code was changed between the versions that you switched between. I label each of my save games with the version number that I created it in just to avoid similar problems.

Confirmed in 1.8.1 (the wolves lost their collar and moved while sitting down). Although I have updated to 1.8.1 for a while, I have not noticed this until today (though I may have just not paid attention). Nvm it seems that I switched to modded 1.7 by accident (though the way it deleted stuff was weird, it removed villagers and oak/spruce/jungle wood planks but not slime blocks, crops, new types of doors etc).

Also I suspect that many of the duplicates of MC-696 are actually dupes of this issue (since that one does not explain the "tamed wolves becoming untamed" part, while several of its duplicates do).

Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w49b or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Ticket resolved as incomplete, because no answer in a reasonable amount of time (1+ year), if it still happens, please update the ticket.
