[MC-53040] World becoms invisible or black and white

when I demolish blocks they become invisible or black and white. I can only see items, mobs and chests.

I think sometimes you can go too high and minecraft probably cannot tell what you are seeing, but I don't understand why the world turns black and white. It could also just be lag.
