Spamming /fill on a command block gives a huge spike lag

I'm trying to make a spleef arena using /fill 1 1 1 2 2 2 wool
and put it into a redstone circuit.

So that when i destroy the wool it will automatically be replaced but after doing this it gives me about 1-5fps only.

Hardware:
1GB Ram
1.6GHZ Dual Core Processor
305MB Video Card

I believe this is just strain on your computer from the commands being processed. Did this happen before the snapshot? If you do a lot of commands at once on a circuit, it can lag. I recommend increasing your RAM to Minecraft.

Alternately, try slowing the clock circuit. As yourself "is it ok if the holes take up to 2 seconds to close"?

Your video card has to recalculate the chunk every time you update a block. As @unknown said, slow down the circuit or buy a better graphics card.
