Villages Cut Off By Other Biomes

While roaming around in a new world, I found a village on a plains biome. But, there was a river running by it, and at the biome boundary, the village was cut-off weirdly as shown in the screenshot. This may affect previous versions as well, I Just had not encountered this before.
