Leather Chestplate disappering when taken off item frame

Hey,
I was playing Minecraft and decided to make a "suit" (leather armor dyed black).
A friend then took it off the frames and run just for fun.
When he gave it back, he didnt have the chestplate.

I later realized that the chestplate was despawning when taken off the item frame.
This is only happening with the chestplate. Everything else works fine. I've been testing it multiple times, and everytime the chestplate falls off and hits the ground, it despawns.
