Dropped items appear to get caught in the gap between fenceposts and flowing water next to them, and may teleport back and forth between two points.
Steps to reproduce:
Create the device in "Flowing 1". There is one water source block in the lower-right corner, where the cursor is pointing.
Throw an item into the water flow, so that it moves straight into the fence. (Flowing 2)
Place a block in front of the water source block, forcing the water to flow around it. (Flowing 3)
The item will float downstream, approximately to the point in "Flowing 4", and then teleport back to the fencepost.

Dmithry, some hints for you:
Do not select Future version (1.8?) as affected versions, you don't even know how much will change until this version comes out, so just don't select it
You don't have to confirm it for any versions below the latest snapshot or release (1.7.9/1.7.10 pre 3) because that are the versions where the developers change and fix 🙂 You can still have maybe one sentence about when it worked last and when the bug appeared again 😉
Labels primarily affect searching, so it's important that they aren't too broad. They need to be chosen to help people find this ticket, without causing it to show up in too many searches for other things, because getting lots of results in a search discourages people from actually looking at the results.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.
Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.
Looks like this was fixed back in 1.8 or so. I cannot reproduce it using the same setup in either 1.8 or 1.8.2-pre6.
Now the item flows until it hits the fence, and then is no longer in the water stream, so when the additional block is placed to reroute the water, the item stays put. The current behavior suggests that the original bug was an internal disagreement in the code as to whether the item was still in the stream, so it would repeatedly move and then teleport back when corrected.
Confirmed by following the steps in the video. The bug does not occur if the fenceposts are replaced with full solid blocks.
