Most gravity-affected blocks (tested sand, red sand, gravel, anvils) lose their side textures when about to hit a block such as chest, ender chest, enchanting table if said blocks are surrounded by any block. Screenshots provide more info and evidence.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Cannot reproduce in 14w28c. In that version the front face is coloured black. Maybe related to MC-59996 or MC-59483
