As the title says, you can't smelt the nether ore.

I thought that this was intended? Like redstone and coal.

You can smelt redstone ore and coal ore. You couldn't smelt quartz, which is fixed now.

Oh right, Sorry I thought that you ment the item Nether Quartz, not the block Nether Quartz Ore. My bad.
