No Way to Completely Turn Music Off

I've had this small issue for a while now, ever since MC version 1.7.2 was released. It still occurs in version 1.7.9 and as small as it is, it can become annoying at times. My issue is that regardless if I have my music in Minecraft turned off or not it still seems to start playing randomly even after I turn it off. Now I could just turn the master volume down, but a lot of times I find myself still wanting to hear the in-game sounds, but listen to my own music. Whenever I turn it off however, a lot of times I won't hear it for a good 10 minutes, then it will randomly start playing again on its own. Would appreciate a look into this. as I'm not sure what would cause this, but I'm sure it's probably an easier fix than some of the major bugs. Thank you .
