confirmed, should not despawn because it's not an hostile mob

As of Beta 1.7 (a long time ago), squids are meant to despawn. Works as intended.

all mobs despawn after a certain time, howerver only all hostile mobs instantly despawn when only a spectator stays near, a squid does this as well, all other non hostile mobs don't do this like sheep, pigs, cows, they stay, this is defenetly not intended

It is intended because the bug is that squids despawn, not all passive mobs.

only hostile mobs are supposed to despawn when only a spectator stays near, that is what was done with spectator mode, a squid in not a hostile mob, so this is not intended

I don't think you understand. Since Beta 1.7, all hostile mobs and squids are meant to despawn. Spectator mode is like a player not being there. There are no special spawn/despawn rules for when a spectator is there; the game acts like the player isn't there and starts despawning all the hostiles and squids.

I know that, I was actually the first on this site that a spectator counts as no player, the moderators then started to use it as well, but for squids only, I think, it has to be a bug

let's stop this and let the moderators/mojang decide

Squids despawn but respawn if players are near.
