Typing into chat /give player 117 gives you a brewing stand, but with a different texture in the inventory and the name it displays is glitched out.

As Minerdomera stated, there's a different data value for the brewing stand item that you need to spawn instead of the actual brewing stand block.
Working as intended.
This isnt a bug. the item you have is the block form of the brewing stand. normally, it is in item form when in your inventory (much like buckets of water and water blocks)
