World textures won't load beyond first chunk(?) because of "Alternate Blocks" option

Upon loading a new world in 14w28b, it seems only the initial chunk is loaded with textures, but moving on to the next one, no texture loads.
Doesnt seem to load at all.

When I toggle "Alternate Blocks" on or off, it reloads and the textures show.
Having the option on/off doesnt affect it.

Currently I have to load the textures manually for each chunk, by toggeling the "Advanced Blocks" button.
