My world won't load.

I am using minecraft 1.7.10 , my username is Professor821. I started my minecraft and clicked on a world to play in but it turned out the only thing on the screen was Building Terrain/ Loading world for atleast half an hour and my world still did not come up.
When i create a new world it doe come up but this has never occurred before when i played in that specific world.
