I had chests in my house, I walked in one day and they were like this. I didn't do anything unusual in the minutes leading up to the discovery. To be clear both halves are physically where they're supposed to be (against the wall I'm looking at) and the sideways part is an illusion with no physicality. Also no codes were used to place the chests so it's not a "well you should know not to use that data value" situation.
Actually now that I think about it teleportation might have been used in the minutes leading up to it. As in, I teleported 1km away, did stuff there for a few minutes, teleported back. Maybe the way chunks unload when teleportation is involved is wonky?
