Beacons will not activate

I tried activating a beacon with a piece of gold but it would not take my gold. I kept trying and even destroyed the beacon and replaced it but it would not let me activate and effect. I fixed it by going into 14w30c and activating it then updating again. Hope you can fix it 🙂
