chunks not generating, entities cannot be created

When I fly in creative mode a certain distance, the world just stops generating. Also, when this happens, all ways of creating entities stop working. Whenever I stop flying past were the chunks stopped generating, I would sink down to y=1 and be able to walk around. Sometimes when this happens too, the world just starts doing really weird things.
