/particle effect won't react to @p @e etc

i was messing around with the /particle command and i had this landmine so i set it to @p it worked until a few snapshots ago and i did it with command blocks here is one of the commands i used. particle lava ~ ~ ~ 1 1 1 5 100 @p but when the command block is triggered then the particles appear on the command block itself.
