Slime Blocks Not Sticky

Here are two screenshots of the problem, both showing the slime blocks inability to stick to other blocks or be moved by pistons.

WAI for both.

The slime block has to be connected to the piston in order for it to be "sticky", and the slime block has to be in the air in order for it work properly.

What I am showing in one of the screenshots is that the piston cannot push the slime block. When the button is pushed nothing happens.
