Put the summary of the bug you're having here
My understanding of VBO setting is that it modifies the rendering process to reduce the load on your GPU. I thought it may reduce render quality for blocks further away, but not any considerable amount.
What actually happened was...:
When I enable it, certain areas have floating "clouds" of random texture that when closer inspected, are composed of images from the item texture files.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable fancy graphics, maximum smooth lighting, Alternate blocks, and Use VBO's.
2. look for areas with strange, missing, or warped textures

I am using a texture pack in the screenshots, however the issue was still present while using the default as well.

Duplicate of... something, I'm still searching for it

Ah, nevermind, it's all MC-62958.

I'm not quite sure what it is either. When I got up close to the affected area, the glitchy texture seemed to be composed of the item texture list, similar to what you see with the notenoughitems mod or the creative inventory

That report states that a render distance above 12 causes the issue; I always use a render distance of 6 though. is this simply a cpu/gpu performance problem?
