Occasional impossibility to place a block, which also disspaears from inventory until right-clicked again

What I expected to happen was...:
To place a furnace on cobblestone.

What actually happened was...:
The furnace wasn't placed though it did the animation and the sound, but my inventory slot containing it became empty. After right-clicking again (sometimes several times), as the placing animation and sound keep happening, the block isn't placed and only reappears in the inventory. It often loops back to the beginning of the bug at this point, the furnace dissapearing again from inventory without being placed.

Steps to Reproduce (though it happens occasionally):
1. Place a furnace on cobblestone or a cobblestone slab, at least both of them trigger it. It dissapears from inventory but doesn't appear in the world.
2. Right click again (it does the animation and sound each time) until it reappears in inventory.
3. Right-click again to place it. It might work, or make it dissapear again as in step 1.
