After making a seed with cheats, I switched back and forth from creative and survival a few times, and eventually it stop letting me break or place blocks when in survival mode. I could still open and close doors, use crafting tables, furnaces, chests, etc. The black line that shows up around each block when you hover over it is gone.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start new seed with cheats
2. Switch to creative
3. Switch back to survival
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you can no longer break/place blocks in survival
You accidentally switched to adventure mode.
