There are no foals in 1.8.0

Well, recently, after the new update I have noticed that there are NO foals in minecraft. Whenever I spawn horses, only adults come out, when out in the wild, only adults can be found, even when i breed 2 trained horses, an adult comes out, but when I try to tame it by sitting on it, I can't because supposedly its a foal.
What I expected to happen was...:
I expected a foal to pop up once i gave my horses golden apples each..

What actually happened was...:
An adult horse popped up instead of a foal
