[MC-7197] Client crash bug

Was playing in creative mode and this happened and crashed me and at least another player.

I've had it happen in at least 1.4.5 and 1.4.6 too.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
