On the screenshot, the chickens pass through the hopper after a random time (5-10min).

I actually noticed this immediately after hoppers were added. I tried to make a test egg farm by linking together several hoppers and putting chickens on it, but I noticed random chickens escaping through the hoppers themselves, so I had to line it with wooden planks.
