I think this is not a bug, as chickens also fall into cauldrons. This is because it is a hollow block, not solid. NOT solid. The top is enterable for a reason, they coded this that way, otherwise this would have been patched a long time ago. Think with your brain. Not your foot.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
Note: this is a automatic message, so apologies if I miss something.
I have had this bug. Completely ruined my automatic chicken farm. After they fall into the hopper, they fall through into the redstone area underneath and they can't lay eggs in the hopper then.
I am having the same problem! I had to decommission my chicken farm and redesign it with half slabs above the hopper. A pain!
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.4 / Launcher version 1.3.8 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
